Autism Awareness Month
April is Autism Awareness Month, a time to recognize and celebrate the unique beauty of neurodiversity, while also acknowledging the very real challenges many families face—especially when it comes to finding trusted, compassionate care.
For families with children who have special needs, we understand that finding care can feel overwhelming—especially if your child is nonverbal, has sensory sensitivities, or thrives with a very specific routine. We’ve spoken with many parents who’ve shared their frustrations and fears. They want to trust someone with their child, but they often feel like no one truly gets what their child needs. This can feel overwhelming when trying to have some alone time with your spouse, when you need some after school help during work hours, or if you simply need a short break to be alone.
At Lone Star Nannies, we believe that every family deserves support. We proudly serve the Dallas-Fort Worth (DFW) area, connecting families with highly qualified, carefully vetted nannies who provide safe, reliable care. We specialize in getting to know the unique needs of each family and matching them with a Nanny who has experience in those specific areas. Families who have children with special needs are no different. Whether it's fostering their intense love of dance or dinosaurs, understanding of the need for very specific routines, use of PECS or sign language, knowledge and application of ABA strategies or awareness of sensory issues and calming techniques, we've got you covered!
We’ve made it a priority to recruit nannies who are experienced in caring for children on the Autism spectrum, including professionals who are Registered Behavior Technicians (RBTs) or have worked directly with children with autism. These nannies bring patience, understanding, and specialized knowledge that allows your child to feel safe, supported, and seen.
We recognize that children on the autism spectrum experience and interact with the world in beautifully unique ways. They may communicate differently, express affection in their own style, or find deep joy and fascination in specific interests. Their honesty, creativity, attention to detail, and ability to see patterns others might miss are just a few of the traits that make them so special. At Lone Star Nannies, we see these qualities not as challenges to overcome, but as gifts to be embraced. Every child has their own rhythm, and we believe in meeting them with patience, understanding, and genuine appreciation for who they are.
We know that asking for help can be hard—and finding specialized help can be even harder. Our mission is to make that easier. When you welcome a Lone Star Nanny into your home, you can breathe a little easier knowing that your child is in capable, compassionate hands.
This Autism Awareness Month—and every month—we’re proud to stand with and support the diverse community of families throughout DFW.
With care,
Lone Star Nannies
