Four Things Every Nanny Should Look For Before Joining An Agency
Finding the right nanny agency can make all the difference in your career. But how do you know which agencies truly advocate for their nannies—and which ones simply fill positions?
As a mom who has been on the other side of the hiring process, Owner Paige Burlew quickly realized that families aren't the only ones looking for the right fit. Nannies are too. From fair pay and W-2 employment to family vetting and ongoing support, the best nanny agencies do far more than match caregivers with jobs.
In this blog, we're sharing the key questions every nanny should ask before partnering with an agency and the standards you should expect from the people representing you. If you're a nanny in the Dallas-Fort Worth area searching for your next opportunity, this guide is for you.

Why Nannies Should Ask for a Performance Review
If you want a long, healthy relationship with your nanny family, regular feedback matters more than you think. Performance reviews aren’t about criticism, they’re about clarity, growth, and partnership. When nannies take the lead in asking for feedback, they create stronger communication, clearer expectations, and more sustainable roles for everyone involved.
Maintaining Boundaries for Kids During the Holidays: Helping Children Thrive Through the Chaos and Connection
The holiday season is full of magic, memory-making, and meaningful traditions, but it can also bring packed schedules, big emotions, and a lot of stimulation for little ones.
At Lone Star Nannies, we see firsthand how much children thrive when they feel safe, supported, and grounded, especially during times of change. That’s why we’re grateful to share this guest post from Whitney Sterling, LPC of Pure Grace Counseling & Wellness, who offers thoughtful, practical guidance on maintaining healthy boundaries for kids during the holidays so families can experience more peace, connection, and joy this season.
The Gift of Togetherness: Why Family Getaways Make the Best Gifts
At Lone Star Nannies, we believe the greatest gift we can give our children is time. Real, connected, un-rushed time together with the best, rested version of ourselves. Our mission is to support parents with trusted, flexible childcare so families can create the moments that become lifelong memories.
More families are turning toward experience gifting because kids may not remember every toy, but they do remember the beach trip, the cabin weekend, or the getaway where everyone finally slowed down.
In this guest post, Nicole Marsh of Moms at Sea Travel shares simple, family-friendly getaway ideas that make it easier to create those meaningful moments — without the stress.

A Letter From the Heart of A Career Nanny: The Importance of Community and Ten Key Lessons She Has Learned Along The Way.
No caregiver should ever feel alone. When Claire Masters first began her journey as a nanny, she often felt isolated; without guidance, support, or community. That changed when she connected with a circle of fellow nannies who offered encouragement, friendship, and wisdom.
Inspired by that experience, Claire founded DFW Nanny and Family Support, a space where caregivers can connect, learn, and thrive together. In this blog, she shares the importance of building community and the ten lessons she wishes she had known when starting out as a nanny.
Lone Star Nannies: Summer Educational Activities
School’s out, but that doesn’t mean all our books are closed! Summer is an opportunity for children of all ages to be students of the world around them, a world beyond the walls and structure of the classroom. As moms, we know how vastly different each child can approach learning. That’s why, in this post, we wanted to share some of our favorite games and activities to encourage our youngest students to be lifelong learners. Our hope is that your child will not even realize what they’re absorbing…and that’s the best part! As adults, we forget that this is one of the most beautiful aspects of childhood. To quote Susie Allison from the popular parenting blog Busy Toddler, “Play is the work of childhood.” You don’t need to buy expensive gadgets or invest in the newest technology on the market. All you need is a few household items and a little inspiration. We’re all lifelong learners! Use this post to be a kid again. Sing phonics in the car, make up stories about the squirrels at the park, and learn fractions while you cook…or while you eat the free pizza you earned from your summer reading program! Educational activities are woven throughout our daily lives, sometimes we just need the eyes to see it.
How to Have a Successful Nanny in Your Home This Summer (So You Don’t Get Fired)
Ah, summer. The season of sunshine, melting popsicles, and your toddler loudly announcing their bathroom needs mid-Zoom call. As a work-from-home mom running a nanny agency, I completely understand the daily juggling act of trying to work while your kids are home for the summer. It’s sweet having them around, sure—but let’s be real, “mom mode” and “work mode” do not mix well. We shuffle them off to summer camps, playdates, grandma’s house—you name it. But somehow, there are always those awkward in-between gaps where no one’s available, and you just need a little more help.

Honoring the Hearts of Mothers: A Letter to Moms
As we wind down the craziness and excitement of May I wanted to share something with you. May is Maternal Mental Health Month and while that may not be circled on your calendar between school pickups, nap schedules, and dinner plans, I want to pause for a moment and talk directly to you. Because I believe your mental health matters. Deeply.
Lone Star Nannies: Bucket List
For most people, the term “bucket list” conjures up images of personal achievements, foreign destinations, or skills yet to master, but you don’t have to travel beyond the borders of your hometown to create lifelong memories with your family. In fact, the hiking trail you discover a short drive from your house could hold more value to your child than the seven wonders of the world! That’s why this month we’ve compiled resources for creating a summer bucket list. Start from scratch and make your own list or explore links to fully developed calendars and blogs written by women who have blazed the trail for you. We hope the ideas below help you get started and try something new this summer! While you may be surprised by some of your kids’ greatest aspirations, you never have to guess what’s at the top of our bucket list - using our calling to help you pursue yours…We’re living the dream!

There’s something hopeful about the change of seasons, and spring holds an especially significant connection to new life. We all want a fresh start, we all want to try new things…and we all love the thought of sipping a coconut on the beach! Lone Star Nannies St. Patrick’s Day Crafts
Happy St. Patrick’s Day from Lone Star Nannies! In the late 4th century, a teenage boy named Patrick was kidnapped from his home in modern day Great Britain and taken to Ireland as a slave. After his escape, he returned to Ireland to tell the country about Christianity. Today, Patrick is known as the patron saint of Ireland and March 17th still stands in his honor. Thanks to many Irish immigrants, St. Patrick’s Day has become a famous American holiday with 5K fun runs, shamrocks, parades, and wearing green…at least, if you don’t want to get pinched! There are so many legends surrounding St. Patrick and the activities we traditionally associate with his feast day, but for the sake of time, we’re going to devote this blog to one of the most engaging for kids - the legend of leprechauns!
Lone Star Nannies Blog: Love Languages
Dr. Gary Chapman’s book The Five Love Languages has been on the New York Times’ best seller list since 2007. Based on its popularity, you’ve probably taken a love language quiz at some point in your life! While serving as a marriage counselor, Dr. Chapman began to see patterns in the conflicts that led husbands and wives to feel unloved. After a deep dive into years of session notes, he ended up with five love languages. The basic premise of his book is that people with different personalities give and receive love in different ways. Since that time, his work has expanded beyond marriage to include practical advice for parents to identify the love languages of their children. You can check out the book and other resources here at the Love Languages website.
