SPLASH PADS
Heritage Springs Splash Pad - Flower Mound
This splash pad made the favorites list because of its relaxing vibe. Shade, lounge chairs, and a separate area for toddlers makes this free community park an ideal spot for a morning play date and a cup of coffee. If kids need a change of pace, there are two covered playground options and a nature trail.
Main Street Interactive Fountain - Downtown Coppell
Order a cup of coffee at George’s, peruse the Farmer’s Market, or split your time between a covered playground and the public fountain. Surrounded by houses with manicured lawns and a field perfect for picnics, you may make downtown Coppell a regular weekend destination! This location is great for toddlers and younger elementary age kids.
Double Tree Ranch Park - Highland Village
Check out this splash pad that resembles a creek! Great for babies and toddlers, the water is gentle and shoots up from the ground. Take a break from the splash pad and enjoy lunch under a covered pavilion or purchase snacks from the concession stand. The park also has wildflowers, short walking trails, and a pond.
Parr Park - Grapevine
Known for its many water attractions, including the lake and Great Wolf Lodge, the city of Grapevine also has a number of parks with water for kids. One of our favorites is Parr Park. Hidden behind a quiet neighborhood, the park is surrounded by trees, green soccer fields, and a nature trail. Kids can go back and forth between the playground and the splash pad. Younger elementary age kids will love this park! Water spews out of giant flowers and geometric shapes. We’ve noticed it’s a popular spot for birthday parties!
Safari Splash - Fort Worth Zoo
The Fort Worth Zoo has always been a fan favorite, but if feeding lettuce to giraffes or staring at lions through glass isn’t enough of a safari, you can rinse off in their water play area for an extra $6/person (in addition to admission). The rate is cheaper for zoo members. The park features slides, animal shaped water cannons, and a water dump tower. There’s also a separate area for toddlers and a section to fill up water toys. There’s no lifeguard on duty, but plenty of parents sit in shaded lounge chairs. Your life is already like a zoo, here’s your chance to corral all the kids into a water zone!
Klyde Warren Park - Dallas
A list of noteworthy splash pads wouldn’t be complete without Klyde Warren Park. There’s just so much to do and so much energy in this part of Dallas. Listen to live music, grab lunch from a food truck, or take on a family member in an outdoor game of ping pong while you dry off from the fountains. From an outdoor library to a playground, there’s something for everyone at this little haven in the city.
WATERPARKS
The following waterparks feature everything from surf machines to beach fronts. Skim our favorites and start planning your first Saturday by the pool…
Indoor
The largest indoor waterpark in North Texas is right here in our own backyard! Epic Waters in Grand Prairie is filled with slides, an arcade, and a gift shop. If you’re looking for all the fun water has to offer without the sunburn, check out their rates on their website. Another popular option is The Cove in Little Elm. With more of a small town feel, The Cove offers summer programs and classes such as Toddler Time and Water Walking. Beginners and experienced surfers will love their Double Surf Machine. Click here for more information.
Outdoor
NRH20 has been a family waterpark in North Richland Hills since 1995. According to their website, it was one of the first waterparks in the nation! Today, the park is over 17 acres and has 23 attractions. You can’t go wrong choosing this park! Kids have loved it for years. Visit their website for pricing.
Most Established
Established in 1929, Burgers Lake has been in business for 96 years and proudly claims its title as Texas’ oldest water park. After undergoing some renovations to the front entrance, the park recently reopened for the summer. Located in Fort Worth, this is the place where brothers challenge each other to jump off the high dive and people bring their own lawn chairs. For those who want to make a weekend out of it, they also have campsites available. Relax on the beach front with friends and watch the next generation enjoy the simplicity of childhood.
Make it a Weekend
In our search for amazing water parks, we found two that are worth a day trip. One is perfect for a family getaway and the second is a noteworthy choice for a splurge. Yogi Bear’s Jellystone Park has an adjoining waterpark called Pirate’s Cove. The park includes a lazy river, slides, waterfalls, and multiple activity pools. Check out both websites to see everything that Jellystone Park and Pirate’s Cove have to offer…they both exist to create memories for families!
The second park you can make into a weekend is quite the splurge. Jade Waters is a resort style pool at the Hilton Anatole in Dallas. Mom can relax under the shade of a cabana with her favorite fiction novel while other members of the family check out the kids area. There’s a beach entry pool, 630 feet of lazy river, and a 7,000 square foot Splash and Play Kids Zone. The activity pool has a water dump bucket tower and basketball hoops, the perfect setup for all the high energy boys in your life. If you stay at the Hilton Anatole during pool season, entry to Jade Waters has historically been included in your stay. Check the resort website for this season’s rates.
We’ve done the work for you! Now, all you need to do is get everyone dressed and loaded into the car. We hope you have time to relax by the pool this summer. If not, give us a call and we can make that happen!
With care,
Lone Star Nannies
